Tim J Hickey began acting at age twenty-one, then took up tap dancing at the age of twenty-four after seeing 42nd Street on Broadway. 

He studied jazz and tap dance in Boston, MA at Gold Studios with Rhee and Rennie Gold, and with their mother Sherry, who suggested to him the nickname “TimTaps”.


He continued studying rhythm-tap with Jimmy “Sir Slyde” Mitchell at Leon Collins' Tappers Paradise, swing and acrobatic jitterbug with Bob Thomas and voice with Todd Gordon.

Tim has been working as a professional entertainer ever since. He has shared the stage with some of the world's greatest entertainers and musicians.

He has performed in 6 different countries and 49 out of 50 states in the USA.

Tim serves on the faculty at Cornish College of the Arts as tap dance professor and teaches at Village Theatre Everett - KidStage.  He also teaches an open class system of tap-dance to adults at Gotta Dance in Redmond, WA.  His students range in age from 18 - 93.  "It's never to late to learn to dance!"

Ben Vereen is one of Tim's main show business inspirations!  This photo was taken at Raisbeck Performance Hall by Timothy Piggee at Cornish College of the Arts in November of 2015, more than 35 years after Tim first saw Mr. Vereen perform a one-man show in Cohasset, Massachusetts at the South Shore Music Circus.
